  • Bug fixed: the Markup Tool did not allow Claim appearance URLs from X.com. Thanks to the users who reported this using the Feedback button.

  • Image search for fact checks general availability
    • Fact check search: as an alternative to searching by text, everyone can now search for fact checks that are related to a user-specified image.
    • Image contexts search is still in beta: approved beta testers can search for the context and timeline of an image on the web, highlighting when it was first indexed by Google and the various topics associated with the image.

  • Image search beta

  • Markup Tool
    • Added an option to allow publishers to create MediaReview markup. Any input is not reflected in any Google products.
    • MediaReview is a new taxonomy being developed by the fact-checking community. For more information read: What is MediaReview or reach out to Joel Luther at Duke Reporters’ Lab and Baybars Örsek at the International Fact-Checking Network.

  • Explorer
    • Bug fixes in locale filtering.
    • Expanded Fact Check Explorer eligibility to fact check publishers that meet the guidelines for Search or YouTube.

    • Added new field "Rating explanation" under Show more fields, which corresponds to http://schema.org/ratingExplanation.
    • Various bug fixes, e.g. better subdomain handling, fix in date picker.

  • Minor bug fixes.
  • We’ve removed the URL prefix selector from the URL bar to ensure that it is easier to add markup for all Search Console property types. You can continue to paste the full URL into the bar as before.
  • We have added some hint text to encourage first time tool users to submit several articles when first using the markup, to be eligible for search rich snippets. Learn more here.
