    Description

The 2023 SiE dataset on European solidarity is built on a large yearly survey designed by the EUI 'Solidarity in Europe' research team and implemented by YouGov. This is the sixth wave of the survey, fielded between 16 March and 24 April 2023, covering a number of topics including: European attitudes, public support for cross-border and domestic solidarity and redistribution, also against hypothetical crisis scenarios; evaluation of different national and supranational redistributive public policy instruments; political parties and attitudes towards democracy and national and international political institutions; salience of issues and threats facing Europeans, including attitudes on security and defence (e.g. Russia, Ukraine, NATO and a European army), inflation, health, housing, among others; strength of national and European identities and individual perceptions concerning immigration, the economy, political ideology, religion and voting preferences; as well as classical demographic indicators. The survey has inquired 24.261 respondents in 16 EU countries (Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Sweden, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Spain, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Croatia) and the United Kingdom.

    Description

This Digital Terrain Model (DTM) for Continental Europe was derived using Ensemble Machine Learning (EML) with publicly available Digital Surface Models. EML was trained using GEDI level 2B points (Level 2A; "elev_lowestmode") and ICESat-2 (ATL08; "h_te_mean"). About 9 million points were overlaid vs MERITDEM, AW3D30, GLO-30, EU DEM, GLAD canopy height, tree cover and surface water cover maps. An ensemble prediction model (mlr package in R) was fitted using random forest, Cubist and GLM, and used to predict the most probable terrain height (bare earth).

The predicted elevations are based on the GEDI data hence the reference water surface (WGS84 ellipsoid) is about 43 m higher than the sea water surface for a specific EU country. Before modeling, reference elevations were corrected to the Earth Gravitational Model 2008 (EGM2008) by using the 5-arcdegree resolution correction surface (Pavlis et al, 2012).

Details on the work to create this dataset can be found here:

NOTE:This dataset has been converted from its original units of decimeters to meters to aid comparisons with other datasets in the OpenTopography catalog.

This document identifies linguistic corpora that can be explored as high-quality training data for automatic translation within EASIER (as opposed to loosely aligned broadcast data). For each data set, the document lists what parts of the data are available under what access conditions. It also lists the elicitation formats used in several corpora in order to identify those parts of the available corpora that could be explored to build multilingual resources. In order to support the construction of an interlingual index across European sign languages, the document also lists lexical resources (lexical databases and dictionaries) available and their characteristics.

    Description

Abstract copyright UK Data Service and data collection copyright owner. The original objective was to produce a marketing survey of 16 countries in Western Europe, to measure their differences as consumers over a wide range of goods and services, and to see how subscribers to European editions of the Reader's Digest compared against the total population of each country. The results are of interest, however, to social planners, sociologists and students of Europe as well as to marketing organizations. Main Topics: The survey, carried out in 16 western European countries in 1969, was intended to up-date and extend the coverage of the 1963 Products and People survey (Survey Number 1511). Coverage was expanded to cover all the countries of EFTA as well as Finland, Spain and the Republic of Ireland. Like the 1963 study, this survey was intended primarily to be a marketing survey of western European countries, to measure these countries' differences as consumers over a wide range of goods and services, and to see how subscribers to the Reader's Digest compared against the total population of each country. However, a number of other broader attitudinal questions have been added, as in 1963, which give the survey a much wider relevance and potential audience than might otherwise be expected. Apart from measuring these and ownership of more than 200 consumer goods and services, information was also collected about the people and families of Europe and their attitudes over a wide range of topics. We present a broad overview of these below. See the questionnaire for more specific information on actual questions asked. 1. Families, Homes and Possessions: size and compostition of households; occupational structures; family incomes; education backgrounds; languages spoken and read; religions; types of accommodation, amenities and tenure; savings, insurance. 2. In the Home: labour-saving equipment; kitchen equipment; washing and cleaning. 3. Food and Drink: information on types of food and drink consumed, preferred. 4. The Leisure Hours: television viewing; involvement in various specified leisure activities, including adult education; second home ownership; pet ownership. 5. Transport and Tourism: automobile ownership; holiday activities and travel. 6. Fashion: attitudes to fashion; amount spent on grooming aids, cosmetics, clothing, wrist-watches. 7. Attitudes to Europe: sense of well-being; knowledge of and attitudes to Common Market and European union; national images and perception of same; identification of and attitudes towards various countries and their products. 8. Socio-Cultural Attitudes: attitudes to advertising; the generation gap; social tolerance (class, sex, religion, colour etc.), attitudes towards law-breakers and social justice; honesty and family relationships.

    Description

3 data files (ZIP compressed); 35 documentation files (ZIP compressed) The Statistical Database on Loss of Citizenship is the first comprehensive database on loss of nationality of the Member States of the European Union. The Statistical Database is presented explicitly in addition to, rather than as alternative to, the Eurostat Database, in order to facilitate cross-national comparison of statistics about the loss of nationality. The Statistical Database contains the following information: (i) Data on the total number of loss of nationality of each Member State per year, based on the data available from national sources since 1985; (ii) Data on the number of losses of nationality by legal basis of each Member State per year, based on the data available from national sources since 1985. The downloadable files include information on the precise legal basis with reference to the national law, as well as the EUDO CITIZENSHIP comparative typology on modes of loss of nationality; (iii) Source documents with details for each Member State about available data, through Eurostat and/or additional national sources (including hyperlinks to these sources). Additional comments on the interpretation of these data are included, where available, as well as contact details of national authorities responsible for the collection of statistics about loss of nationality. This dataset was prepared in the context of the ILEC project (Involuntary Loss of European Citizenship: Exchanging Knowledge and Identifying Guidelines for Europe), which aims to establish a framework for debate on international norms on involuntary loss of nationality. For more information visit: www.ilecproject.eu. ILEC is a research project co-funded by the European Commissionメs DG Justice, Citizenship and Fundamental Rights. Published chapter 'Mapping statistics on loss of nationality in the EU : a new online database' and working paper 'Statistics on loss of nationality in Europe' based on the dataset
