    Description

    UNSD Environmental Indicators disseminate global environment statistics on ten indicator themes compiled from a wide range of data sources. The themes and indicator tables were selected based on the current demands for international environmental statistics and the availability of internationally comparable data. Statistics on Water and Waste are based on official statistics supplied by national statistical offices and/or ministries of environment (or equivalent institutions) in response to the biennial UNSD/UNEP Questionnaire on Environment Statistics, complemented with comparable statistics from OECD and Eurostat, and water resources data from FAO Aquastat. Statistics on other themes were compiled by UNSD from other international sources. In a few cases, UNSD has made some calculations in order to derive the indicators. However, generally no adjustments have been made to the values received from the source. UNSD is not responsible for the quality, completeness/availability, and validity of the data. Environment statistics is still in an early stage of development in many countries, and data are often sparse. The indicators selected here are those of relatively good quality and geographic coverage. Information on data quality and comparability is given at the end of each table together with other important metadata.

    Description

    Remote camera data on snow presence, snow depth, and wildlife detections on Moscow Mountain in Latah County, ID, USA. Reconyx Hyperfire I and Hyperfire II cameras were used and set to take hourly timelapse images and motion-triggered images. The cameras were deployed from October 2020 - May 2021. Snow presence was assessed up to 15 m from the camera. Snow depth was measured using virtual snow stakes created with the edger R package created by the author. Wildlife were marked as present in all photos in which they appear, and new individuals were counted. Snow density was collected using a federal or prairie snow sampler. Snow hardness was collected using a ram penetrometer. Solar radiation was calculated using hemispherical photographs. Cold-air pooling was approximated using a DEM. These data were used for two purposes: 1) to explore variability in snow disappearance dates in a complex forested terrain, and 2) to examine relationships between white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) and mule deer (O. hemionus) and snow properties including snow depth, density, and hardness.

Ziel des IMJV ist es, einen Überblick über die Auswirkungen von Unternehmen auf die Umwelt und den Umgang damit zu geben. Das IMJV umfasst unter anderem Folgendes: — Eine Beschreibung der Tätigkeiten der Gesellschaft; Eine Übersicht über die Emissionen in Luft, Wasser und Boden; — Die Nutzung von Energie und Rohstoffen; — Maßnahmen des Unternehmens zum Schutz der Umwelt; — Das Ergebnis etwaiger Umweltmaßnahmen des Betriebs; Beschreibung der Abfallbehandlung. Das IMJV wird der flämischen Regierung vorgelegt und ist ein wichtiges Instrument zur Überwachung und zum Vergleich der Umweltleistung von Unternehmen. Das IMJV ermöglicht es den Behörden, Strategien zu entwickeln und Unternehmen zu ermutigen, ihre Umweltleistung zu verbessern.
